I am writing this letter to inform you of an immediate
opportunity to be involved in a project
that will touch hundreds of childrens' lives for many
years. I have been involved in working
at the Komorivka Orphanage for close to two years and
one of the most obvious and most
difficult need to address has been the heating system.
Although I have not spent a night there, I
have sat in on many classes during the winter with my
my heavy winter coat on and my toes were
numb by the end of the first class. A number of folks
have visited the orphanage with me this
past year and they have all been concerned about the
heating situation and have offered their
thoughts and solutions to the problem, most of them
ending in dead-ends. I began to
investigate a lead from a visiting businessman that I
met in Kiev and he pointed me to Dolya-Dytyny
Foundation. They have been tackling this problem
through their "Warmth in Soul" Project with
great success. They have moved our orphanage to the
top of their priority list even though we are
located in a distant village about 180km NE of Kiev.
Dolya-Dytyny Foundation has proven
results and a number of reliable sponsors.
If you have a heart for this project and would like
to be a part of making a new heating
system a reality for the 130 children in Komarivka ,
Ukraine, please take a look at the attached
letter from Darya Revina, the Foundation's General
Director, with details about the project.
You may want to check out their website at http://dolya-dytyny.org.ua/eng/activity/
for more
information.
This is a huge project but if we can find some
interested companies or humanitarian groups to
become cosponsors this will be a reality for the
children this winter. Kiev Lions Club has
already donated $10,000 towards this project. If you
help me network this need to those
interested in helping, the warmth generated by this
new heating system will not only meet their
physical need but provided as the project name says,
"Warmth in Soul". Can you imagine a
temperature reaching -20 degrees F and a heating
system 50+ years old with barely any output of heat?
These kids need help. They could be warm this winter
with your help.
Sincerely,
Doug Stoddard

Below is the letter from Darya Revina, the General
Director with further details.
Dear Doug
Please let us attract your attention to the following
matter.
At the moment DOLYA DYTYNY Foundation focuses its
attention at the main
nation-wide “Warmth in Soul” project for providing
with heating and warmth
into children institutions of Ukraine.
“Warmth in Soul” project had been started in 2002
after analyzing the level
of heating and hot-running water supply to the state
children institution
with centralized heat supply system such as
orphanages, hospitals and
educational institutions.
When we started to realize the project in the few
children institutions we
understood that heating and hot running water is a
nationwide problem. The
problem that state in the course of 15 years hadn’t
devoted any attention to
and of course no resources from the state budget.
“Warmth in Soul” program had already been implemented
in tens of children
institutions around Ukraine in Kyiv, Kharkiv,
Cherkassy regions and had
truly brought significant changes into the lives of
children there.
The permanent partner of the Warmth in Soul program is
Puls construction
company that specialized in mini-heat system
constructions and works on the
market from 1989. DOLYA DYTYNY and Puls company are
working on the mutual
beneficial conditions and discounted payment rates.
The Puls construction company estimated the project at
$ 80 000 and
suggested the complex decision on the total
reconstruction of existing coal
boiler room using produced in Ukraine boilers burning
coal and wooden
pellets as well as installing new pumps and other
equipment for the heat
generating. The efficiency of the new reconstructed
boiler as expected to be
at the rate of 80-85%. The construction company takes
responsibility on the
full deliverance on the project starting from the
project planning till the
project completing as well as provides long-term
guarantee on the work.
DOLYA DYTYNY Foundation introduced the project to the
Kyiv Lions Club and
received initial support of it and readiness to
consider their contribution
in the amount of $ 10 000.
DOLYA DYTYNY also intends on attracting sponsorship in
the amount of $
30 000 from the other foundation supporters till the
mid of July.
DOLYA DYTYNY Foundation will be coordinator of this
project. We will take
our responsibility to coordinate construction company
activity.
The money needed for the project completion are to be
transferred to the
foundation account. For the US donors we have
established cooperation with
King Bodouin Foundation from New York and is
registered as tax exempted in
the IRS.
We hope that this project will find support from the
people not indifferent
to Komarivka orphanage and its children.
Yours truly,
Darya Revina
